Is Acupuncture an Effective Solution to Weight Loss?

2

There is a lot of talk about acupuncture these days. It is becoming known as a cure for everything from pain management to infertility treatments.

Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese medicine that has had little to do with western medicine until recently as more people in the West open up the idea of trying alternative to our traditional approaches.

Acupuncturist Point Pleasant specialists, for example, have an interdisciplinary approach to pain management and rehabilitation as a way of offering alternatives to more invasive surgical procedures. Combined with physical therapy, acupuncture can be an effective way to relieve way and restore physical function in patients.

Weight loss is another category where acupuncture is showing up. According to Joey Komada, L.Ac, a licensed acupuncturist in Los Angeles, while effective weight loss programs should include healthy diet changes, exercise and stress reduction practices, acupuncture can play a useful part in helping patients in these important steps. For instance, Chinese acupuncture can help stimulate healthy digestion, relieve stress, frustration, and anxiety. As a result it can help people avoid overeating and begin healthy practices.

Komada believes that while acupuncture is not cure people from everything and will not alone have people lose weight it can promote vital process of the body such as endorphin release and rebalance organ function and flow.

Julie, how long after your start of acupuncture did you begin to see weight loss? I just recently began to lose weight after pregnancy…just wondering how long I’ll have to wait before I potentially see results! Has acupuncture worked for anyone else??
